Bring Your Own OAuth Apps to PostPeer
PostPeer's managed OAuth apps are still the fastest way to connect a social account. But sometimes you need the consent screen to show your own product, you want direct control over provider review and quota, or your security policy requires credentials owned by your team.
You can now bring your own OAuth app credentials to PostPeer.
Your app, PostPeer's OAuth infrastructure
Create an app with the social platform, add the PostPeer callback URL, and store its client ID and client secret once in your PostPeer project. When you connect an account, choose that app instead of the PostPeer-managed app.
The person connecting sees your app's name and branding on the provider consent screen. PostPeer continues to handle the callback, authorization-code exchange, encrypted token storage, token refresh, and publishing.
That gives you control of the provider relationship without requiring you to build and operate another OAuth backend.
When BYOK is useful
Bring your own app when you need:
- Your product name and logo on the authorization screen
- Ownership of platform review and compliance
- Provider quota isolated to your application
- Separate OAuth apps for different products or customers
- Credentials that remain under your organization's control
If none of those apply, keep using PostPeer's managed apps. There is no extra setup, and the publishing interface is the same either way.
One saved app, many connections
OAuth credentials belong to your PostPeer project. Save an app once, then use it to connect multiple accounts for that platform. You can rename the saved app, change its icon, or rotate its client secret later.
Each social connection remembers which OAuth app issued its tokens. This lets managed and customer-owned connections coexist in the same project.
Supported platforms
BYOK is available for X, YouTube, LinkedIn, Pinterest, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Threads, and Google Business Profile. Bluesky is the exception because it uses per-user app passwords instead of a customer-owned OAuth app.
Each provider has different products, permissions, review steps, and terminology. The BYOK setup guide links to a separate setup page for every supported platform.
Set up your first app
Open Integrations → Apps (BYOK) in the PostPeer dashboard and select New app. Choose a platform, follow its setup guide, and paste the resulting client ID and client secret into PostPeer.
When the app is saved, return to Integrations, start a new connection, and select your OAuth app before choosing the platform.
