OAuth Apps (BYOK)

Bring your own OAuth app

Use your own branded provider apps while PostPeer handles OAuth callbacks, tokens, refresh, and publishing.

PostPeer's managed OAuth apps are the fastest way to connect accounts. Bring your own OAuth app (BYOK) when you need your name and logo on the consent screen, your own provider quota, or direct control over provider review and compliance.

PostPeer still handles the OAuth callback, token exchange, encrypted token storage, refresh, and publishing. You create and maintain the app in the platform's developer console.

Provider approval is separate from PostPeer. Some platforms let you test with app owners or test users immediately but require review before customers can connect.

Set up an app

  1. Choose your platform below and complete its provider setup.
  2. In PostPeer, open Integrations → Apps (BYOK) → New app.
  3. Select the platform and confirm that the callback URL matches the one in the guide.
  4. Paste the provider's client ID and client secret, then select Create app.
  5. Return to Integrations → Integrations → New integration.
  6. Select your saved OAuth app, then choose its platform to connect an account.

Platform guides

Bluesky is not listed because it uses per-user app passwords instead of a customer-owned OAuth app.

What to prepare

Provider reviews commonly ask for an app name and icon, a public website, privacy policy and terms, an explanation of how account data is used, test credentials, and a recording of the connection and publishing flow. Build and test with the provider's development users before applying for production access.

Manage an existing app

You can rename an app, replace its icon, or rotate its stored client secret from Apps (BYOK). The platform and client ID cannot be changed because existing refresh tokens are tied to the client ID that issued them. To switch client IDs, create a new app and reconnect the affected accounts.

An app cannot be deleted while active integrations still use it. Reconnect or disconnect those integrations first.

Use BYOK through the API

Create the app with POST /v1/apps/, then pass the returned app.id as appId when requesting an OAuth URL from GET /v1/connect/{platform}. See the Apps API reference and Connect guide for examples.
